Action Steps for Local Educational Agencies, Districts, and Schools:

• Review memo on wellness policies.
• Begin reviewing local wellness policies during School Year 2011-2012 and start implementing new requirements.
  
• Consult the resources on Implementation Tools and Resources page.
  
• By the end of School Year 2011-2012, districts and schools should be working toward developing a reasonable method to inform and update the public about the content, implementation, and assessment of wellness policies.

Federal Regulation Process

• The proposed rule will be published in the the Federal Register in the Fall of 2012.
  
• The final rule will be published in the Fall of 2013.

This portion of our site will be updated regularly to reflect requirements of the 2010 Law. 2004 Local Wellness Policy resources may still be used by local educational agencies in building on their existing local wellness policies.
