Hassler Elementary Fruit and Vegetable Challenge
The Hassler first graders participated in the fruit and vegetable challenge issued by the USDA’s Team Nutrition. Nine first grade classes each set a goal on how many fruits and vegetables they would consume in the month of October. All classes reached their goal while even some exceeded it. The classes were rewarded with a yogurt and juice party sponsored by the Klein food service department. Each child received a certificate and balloon for participating in the challenge.
Many teachers stated their students tried new fruits and vegetables. One first grade class enjoyed doing the challenge so much, they are going to continue to set a new goal for the month of November. Pictures are from the reward party.
